In short
Two small values are kept in your browser whatever you choose: one remembers that you confirmed your age, the other remembers your answer to the cookie banner. Everything beyond that — analytics, advertising measurement — waits for your consent and never loads without it.
What a cookie is here
We use the word loosely, as the banner does, to cover both classic cookies and the local storage values that modern browsers offer. Our own two values use local storage, which means they stay on your device and are never transmitted to us with a request.
Essential storage
- vc_age_ok — records that you confirmed being 18 or over, so the age check does not reappear on every page. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
- vc_consent — records whether you accepted or refused non-essential cookies. Without it the banner would ask again on each visit. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
These two cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot honour the choices you have already made. Neither contains a name, an email address or anything that identifies you personally.
Analytics, only with consent
- Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) — counts visits, sessions and the pages that get read, so we know whether the site is useful. Typically expires after two years.
Advertising measurement, only with consent
- Google Ads (_gcl_*) — tells us whether somebody who clicked one of our advertisements went on to look at the rooms or write to reception. Typically expires after ninety days.
We run these tags in Google Consent Mode. Before you answer the banner, every category is set to denied, so the tags are present but store nothing. Choosing Essential only leaves them in that state permanently.
Changing your mind
Open at the foot of any page and choose again. The new choice replaces the old one immediately. You can also clear the storage for this site in your browser settings, which resets both the cookie choice and the age confirmation.
Blocking cookies in the browser
Every modern browser can block or delete cookies and site storage, usually under Privacy or Site settings. Blocking everything will not break the pages, but the age check and the cookie banner will reappear on each visit, because the site will have no way to remember your answers.
What is not here
No social network pixels, no advertising networks beyond Google, no cross-site profiling, no fingerprinting scripts and no third-party video or map embeds. The only external resources this site loads are the two web fonts it is set in.
