Verona Court began as a merchant's summer villa, with a double colonnade facing the lake and a cool vaulted cellar beneath it. A careful restoration kept the terrazzo floors, the walnut doors and the pale lime plaster, and added what the house always lacked: proper plumbing, quiet glazing and a lift.
What it is now is a casino hotel of thirty-one keys. Breakfast runs late on the loggia. Afternoons belong to the bathing hall or the shaded gravel garden. From six in the evening the Sala Fortuna opens its doors to adult visitors, and the house finds its second rhythm — roulette, a glass of something cold, a late plate from the grill kitchen.
Everything here happens in person, on the premises. There is nothing to download and nothing to deposit.
Each key has linen curtains, a marble washstand, a stocked water carafe and a small espresso tray. Floor areas are approximate.
On the quiet flank of the house, opening onto the shaded arcade where the gravel garden begins. The coolest room in the building in August.
Two tall windows onto the water, with the original shutters still working. The ferry horn at seven in the morning is part of the deal.
A sitting room on the corner of the first floor, a writing desk in the turret window and a long balcony that takes the sun until it sets.
The whole attic floor under the old beams: two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a stone bath and a roof terrace with a table that seats six.
The casino at Verona Court occupies the villa's original ballroom, under two restored glass chandeliers. It is a small floor by design: six tables, a quiet card room behind a velvet curtain, and a casino bar at the lake end where the windows stay open in summer.
Our casino hosts know most guests by name and are happy to teach a game properly before anyone sits down. First-timers tend to start at the roulette table on a Wednesday, when the pace is deliberately slow.
This is a land-based casino inside the hotel, open to adult visitors in person only. This website does not offer online casino games, take bets or process any payment.
Open daily from 18:00 until 03:00
The lake supplies perch and whitefish, the hillside supplies everything green. Menus are rewritten every fortnight.
Lake fish over embers, hand-cut pasta and a short list of regional reds, served in the vaulted room below the terrace.
Breakfast under the arches until half past eleven, then salads, cold cuts and a single hot dish of the day.
Bitter aperitivi, mountain gins and a well-kept list of drinks without alcohol, poured beside the casino bar entrance.
Cornetti baked twice each morning, almond tarts by the slice and coffee to carry down to the jetty.
The week keeps the same shape all year. Hotel guests and visitors are equally welcome; a few evenings need a table.
A trio from the conservatory plays an hour in the ballroom before the casino floor opens.
One menu, one long walnut table, whatever the morning market gave the grill kitchen.
Casino hosts teach French roulette and blackjack at a slow table, with no stake expected. Adults 18+ only.
Six glasses from the lake valleys with cheese and walnut bread, down in the vaulted cellar.
A resident quintet, the chandeliers dimmed and the terrace doors folded open.
Song, sleight of hand and some light comedy in the garden pavilion. Booking advised.
Family-style plates, four courses, no hurry, with a guitarist after three o'clock.
The diary shifts a little with the season. Reception keeps the current week at the desk.
Behind the villa, a short tunnel leads into the bathing hall: two thermal pools at different temperatures, a steam room lined in grey marble and a row of wooden loungers facing a high window of frosted glass. It is the quietest room on the property, and deliberately so — no music, no telephones.
Rooms are ready from 15:00 and we ask for them back by 11:00. Bags can be left at reception on either side of a stay, and the lift reaches every floor.
Children are welcome in the rooms, both kitchens and the lower thermal pool at set hours. The casino floor is adults only at all times, and Bar Alloro after 21:00.
A step-free route runs from the car court through reception to the loggia, both kitchens and the bathing hall. Two rooms are adapted. Tell us what helps and we will arrange it.
The Sala Fortuna is for adults aged 18 and over, and an evening there should stay an evening out — nothing more. Our hosts will set a limit with you, hold a break for you or arrange a confidential self-exclusion, and they can hand you the number of an independent helpline at any hour.

Yes, in the rooms, the restaurants and the lower thermal pool during family hours. The casino floor is closed to anyone under 18 at all times, including children accompanied by a parent.
That is part of the job. Speak to any casino host before you play: they can agree a spending ceiling with you, remind you when an agreed time is up, or arrange a break of a day, a month or longer.
Yes. Ristorante Cedrone, Caffè Loggia and Bar Alloro all take outside bookings. We would reserve early for the Tuesday market dinner and the Saturday cabaret.
The garden pavilion and the cellar both work well for a small wedding, a birthday or a company dinner of up to forty. Write to us with your dates and the number of guests.
Send your dates, the room you have in mind and anything that would make the stay easier — a cot, a quiet floor, a late arrival. Reception answers by email, usually the same working day.
